
2010 Team Information and Official Tournament Rules
Completed Rosters with actual player names, shirt size, and jersey numbers must be submitted no later than tournament entry deadline which is Monday, March 22nd, 2010 by 5:00pm. Hoops for Heroes 2010 will be open to the first 16 registered teams.

Team Fee: $250.00 *Checks are to be paid to the Fraternal Order of Police 171
Tournament Rules:
1. All teams must be sponsored by a professional law enforcement agency, fire and rescue department,
emergency medical service, or correctional facility. Joint teams are allowed (i.e. a police and fire department may combine to represent the city or county municipality). Exceptions to this rule must be approved by the Hoops for Heroes Commission which can be contacted at the information below.
2. All players that participate in Hoops for Heroes 2010 must be employed with the department that they represent. Identification may be required by tournament officials if there is a question in this matter.
3. Team Fees must be paid on or before the day of the tournament.
4. Team rosters may have up to 15 players, coach included. The coach may be an honorary, celebrity, or community member, and not a member of the represented department; however they must be affiliated with the represented department to play.
5. All players must be uniformed in the jerseys that are provided by the Hoops for Heroes Tournament. We ask that players not cut off their shirt sleeves as to respect the charity and their sponsors.
6. Teams need to uphold to the tournament schedule, arrive on the court on time, and be prepared to start all games at the scheduled times. Tournament Officials are going to do their best to keep games running on time, please keep your team present until eliminated incase games are running early or late.
7. All charity tournament players, attendees, etc must abide by the charity tournament code of conduct as provided below:

a. Please respect all other attendees and tournament players.

b. Please respect the facility in which the tournament is hosted.

c. DO NOT use profane language and or gestures at anytime.

d. Calls made by officials cannot be contested. All rulings are final on the court.
8. Violations of the Code of Conduct will not be tolerated. Players found in violation may be removed from the tournament or suspended for a number of games to be determined by the HFH commission.
Game Rules:
1. All Tournament games will be under the rules and officiated by the IHSSA.
2. Players will receive 5 personal fouls. 2 technical fouls will result in ejection of the game. Ejection will result in a 1 game suspension unless otherwise ruled by the HFH commission.
3.Tournament Games will consist of the following:

a. Two 12 minute halves and a 5 minute halftime.

b. Each team will receive THREE – 30 second timeouts per half.

c. Overtime will consist of a 5 minute period.

d. ALL GAMES have a running clock until the final two minutes of the game, or during a time out.
4. Championship Game will consist of the following:

a. Two 15 minute halves and a 10 minute halftime.

b. Each team will receive FOUR – 30 second timeouts per half.

c. Overtime will consist of a 5 minute period.

d. ALL GAMES have a running clock until the final two minutes of the game, or during a time out.
5.The winner of the losers bracket does not have to beat the winner of the winner’s bracket twice, the Championship game is final.
6.No warm-up time is guaranteed for any team except for the championship game.
