Update 3-8-2010 *NEW TO HOOPS*
by HOOPS FOR HEROES on 03/08/10
Its been a good weekend for Hoops with about 30 days remaining until the tournament. We have released the posters online for print and we have started our marketing campaign. We even have a request from New Albany High School for the school paper to do an article about Hoops. More press to come, but the biggest announce is:
That Hoops for Heroes has partnered with Hoops for Heroes, that is right there are two charity organizations named Hoops for Heroes. The other charity is run by Dave Cumming from New Hampshire. Dave is shooting 1 million free throws as a tribute to the troops and HE HAS AGREED TO JOIN US IN NEW ALBANY ON APRIL 10th for the Third Annual Hoops for Heroes Charity Basketball Tournament.
Dave will be coming to New Albany and shooting during our tournament in a dedicated area of the event. Join us and meet Dave and his charity. Last count was approximately 165,000 free throws that he has made since November of last year.
Hoops for Heroes is excited about the new partnership and looks forward to having Dave join us this year.
Other news:
+U.S. Army Reserves have contacted Hoops for Heroes to have a team participate this year. We are excited about this prospect.
+Massage Therapy School returns to Hoops. Brenda from 2008 and the Massage Therapy School will be returning in 2010 to provided anyone a massage for a donation and players of the tournament will receive them free during breaks.
Check back for more coming soon.
Update 3-3-2010
by HOOPS FOR HEROES on 03/03/10
Its coming up on a month away and Hoops for Heroes is coming together to be the largest event to date with more activities and fun. We are still awaiting several teams to confirm with rosters, but have several teams with verbal commitments. We are having sponsorships starting to come in and the event poster will be released on our website at midnight tonight. HFH is very excited about some new event partnerships this year which will be announced soon.
Pass the word about our KIDS ZONE, an interactive area for kids to play and have fun. Christian Academy Varsity Basketball teams will be hosting the area at the event and parents can drop their kids off in a safe area to enjoy the tournament. This is free with paid admission to Hoops for Heroes.
Update 2-25-2010
by HOOPS FOR HEROES on 02/25/10
The commission is hard at work to gather volunteers and develop new ideas and activites at Hoops for Heroes this year. One of the most exciting new additions is the the Kids Zone that will feature an exclusive area for kids with fun activites and games provided by Christian Academy's High School Varsity Teams. We are excited to be working with CAI this year.
Hoops for Heroes is also very excited about some new technology this year. HFH is looking at two large screen projectors for the main gym that will provide scrolling sponsor ads and team rosters for the crowd to enjoy. We are working hard to improve Hoops for Heroes every year.
This week's featured sponsor is Judge Susan Orth of Floyd County Superior Court 1 who has provided Hoops for Heroes incrediable support since the creation of the tournament. We would like to thank Judge Orth and her office for everything they have done for HFH and the community.
